Thirty years of printing plastic
We've been making novelty plastic cards since 1996. That's thirty years of designing, printing and posting fake IDs — longer than most of our customers have been alive. The business is CardFairy, UK-registered, and it has been doing this one thing the whole time.
The trade has changed completely in that period. In 1996 a novelty card meant laminated cardstock and a photocopier. Today we print on a £25,000+ UV DTF rig built specifically for plastic card work — raised text, holographic overlays, UV ink, microtext, printed data strips. No outsourcing, no middlemen, no white-labelling somebody else's printing. It happens here.
What we make, and what we won't
Every card is our own original novelty design. We draw all our own artwork from scratch, we never copy an official document, and every card carries a printed disclaimer. That is not a line we bolted on to cover ourselves — it is the whole design brief.
Cards are for entertainment, collecting, fancy dress, film and stage props, and winding up your mates. If you want something that replicates a real document, we are the wrong printer and we will say so. People ask; the answer does not change.
Why buy from a thirty-year-old printer
Short version: you can see what you are getting, and you can check what we can actually prove. Every design in the premium range is photographed front and back, in hand and under UV, before you spend anything.
The novelty card trade attracts a lot of sites that take payment and vanish. We know, because we write about them — see avoiding novelty card scams and our review of UK card sites. Longevity is the honest differentiator here: a business that has been trading under the same name since 1996 has rather more to lose than one that appeared last month.
The other one is that you see the card before you pay for it. The order form renders your actual card — your photo, your details, the design you picked — and what you approve is what gets printed.
